Bringing Light to the Nation

church of Christ Jamaica Event

Songfest is our day of singing & fellowship, bringing hundreds of Christians from across the island. Among them you will find various singing groups, aspiring song leaders and talented performers. Some activities you may find at our Songfest are Old School singing, Praise & Worship, Song Leaders workshops, Concert.

Brief History
In 1993 David Henry and family returned from the U.S. where he had just finished studying for two degrees in Bible and Music. He immediately set about organizing and conducting singings and workshops across the island, while teaching music at Jamaica School of Preaching and preaching at Jackson.

“We had experienced a number of singings while in the states which we thoroughly enjoyed and so the years activity was with the view of launching songfest the following year 1994. Marjorie and I came up with the idea and name where all churches across the island would come together for a day of singing” Bro Henry states.

This idea got favourable response from local congregations where singings were held. The last Saturday in July was chosen date for the event and the Independence City church of Christ the first venue.

“It was a tremendous sucess with a full auditorim and people on the outside as well as upstairs in the balcony” Bro Henry recalls.
