Stand Still Stand Firm

Angel Brown

May 25, 2017

Today social media is again promoting what is called a mannequin challenge where participants remain motionless (like a mannequin) while a video recording is done. It seems simple but as I have seen in a few videos some have found it difficult to remain frozen for a while. The effort to remain still is compounded by the problems of

  • the conditions of the environment in which one is standing,
  • the stance one is taking
  • and where they choose to stand.

It’s easier for a person on leveled ground, standing upright with no strong gust of wind to stand firm compared to a person on slippery ice, one foot in the air, in stormy conditions.

As I thought even more about this, I am reminded of Paul’s encouragement to the Corinthian brethren??to

Stand firm and let nothing move them. To always give themselves fully to the work of the Lord, because they should know that their labor in the Lord is not in vain. (1 Cor. 15:55)

We can become rooted up if we are not planted firmly in the right place taking a good stance because I kid you not the strong gust of the devil will present itself if we are not careful.

Paul further wrote to the brethren “Be on your guard; stand firm in the faith; be courageous; be strong.” (1 Cor. 16:13)

Where should we stand?

IN FAITH……. where are you standing now?

How should we stand?

IN CONFIDENCE. how is your stance?

What do I need for the conditions?

THE WHOLE ARMOUR OF GOD. Are you completely attired?

Let us stand firm in the faith. Such a person is compared to a tree with roots flourishing by a stream (Psalm 1:1-3, Jer. 17:8).

Now is the time to allow our faith to blossom. Keep trusting in God. No matter how short or how long it may seem to be, your labour is NOT in vain.?? Many are on the brink of giving up, feelings of exhausted prayers waiting on answers however we are not forgotten.

The Lame man at the Pool of Bethesda waited 38 years (John 5). The woman with the issue of blood waited 12 years (Luke 8:43-48).

Keep firm in your stance. Be patient and as Moses spoke to the Hebrews before the Red Sea I share the same sentiments with you today

Stand Still and see the deliverance of the LORD.

God is still fighting our battles!
